Comfort & sedation
At the 47VH practice, care is designed to reduce anxiety, improve patient comfort, and support surgical treatments in a calm and serene environment.

That is why we tailor our care to each patient and offer several solutions to perform procedures in the best possible conditions of comfort.
Premedication
For anxious patients, we can prescribe an anxiolytic to be taken before the procedure — the evening before at bedtime or one hour before the appointment.
You will feel a sense of relaxation that reduces anxiety and facilitates the course of treatment. The effect wears off a few hours after the procedure. A companion is required for the return journey, whether a family member or a taxi.
Inhalation Sedation (MEOPA)
We also offer inhalation sedation with nitrous oxide and oxygen — also known as MEOPA — administered via a nasal mask.
After a few minutes, you feel a calm and relaxation close to pre-sleep. You remain conscious and cooperative throughout the treatment. The effect disappears as soon as you stop breathing through the mask. No companion is needed for this type of sedation.
MEOPA is safe, well-tolerated, and has very few contraindications.
Local Anesthesia
All our surgical procedures are performed under local anesthesia.
Before the injection, we apply a pre-anesthetic gel to the gum to make the injection painless. The anesthesia is then administered progressively to ensure optimal comfort from the very start of the procedure.
You feel no pain during treatment. A slight sensation of pressure may be perceived, but it remains comfortable. The anesthetic effect typically wears off 2 to 3 hours after the procedure.
After the Procedure
At the end of each procedure, we provide you with a prescription and written post-operative instructions detailing the recommendations to follow to optimize your healing.
- Medications — We systematically prescribe an appropriate painkiller. Depending on the type of procedure, an anti-inflammatory or antibiotic may also be prescribed.
- Ice packs — We recommend applying ice packs to the cheek for the first 24 hours — 10 minutes every hour — to reduce post-operative swelling.
- Diet — We recommend a cold or lukewarm, soft diet for the first few days. Hot, hard, or spicy foods should be avoided during the initial healing period.
- Oral hygiene — Normal brushing is maintained on the other areas. The operated site is gently cleaned according to the instructions provided after the procedure.
- Physical activity — We recommend avoiding any intense physical activity for 48 hours to reduce the risk of bleeding.
