The placement of a dental implant is a short surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia in a sterile environment.
At the 47VH clinic in Nice, we follow a precise protocol at every stage—from placement to monitoring osseointegration—to ensure proper healing and optimize long-term outcomes.
Preparation
We accompany you to the operating room, taking all necessary precautions to ensure your comfort and safety.
We check your premedication if it has been prescribed. You then perform a chlorhexidine mouth rinse for one minute, after which we help you put on a sterile single-use surgical gown. You are seated in the dental chair, and sterile drapes as well as all necessary protective measures are put in place.
The surgical procedure
We first apply a topical anesthetic gel, then administer local anesthesia identical to that used for a routine dental procedure. Conscious sedation is available on request for patients seeking additional comfort.
The surgeon then makes a small incision in the gum, gently reflects the soft tissues, and performs a series of drills under irrigation to prepare the implant site. The implant is then placed and screwed into position, the gum is repositioned and closed with two sutures. A control X-ray is taken to verify correct positioning.
In posterior regions, we place a protective cover screw at gingival level. In the aesthetic anterior region, we usually place an immediate provisional restoration at the end of the procedure.
The procedure lasts approximately 15 minutes. You do not feel any pain during the procedure.

Post‑op instructions
At the end of the procedure, we remove the sterile drapes and explain your medication prescriptions. We provide written post-operative instructions detailing hygiene recommendations, temporary dietary advice, and warning signs to monitor. We then schedule your follow-up appointments at the reception desk.
15-day follow-up visit
We see you two weeks after the procedure to check healing. Sutures are removed if they are uncomfortable; otherwise, they are left to dissolve spontaneously.
Osseointegration check and prosthetic placement
Three months after placement, we perform a clinical and radiological check to confirm that the bone has properly integrated with the implant. Once osseointegration is confirmed, the implant can be restored with its definitive prosthetic restoration—crown, bridge, or implant-supported prosthesis—carried out in collaboration with your referring dentist.
Once the prosthesis has been placed, we establish a regular implant maintenance program to preserve the long-term stability of peri-implant tissues.
