On distingue deux stades principaux :<\/p>\n<h3>Gingivite<\/h3>\n<p>Premier stade de la maladie parodontale. Les gencives deviennent rouges, gonfl\u00e9es et saignent au brossage. \u00c0 ce stade, les l\u00e9sions sont r\u00e9versibles. Si la gingivite n&rsquo;est pas trait\u00e9e, elle peut \u00e9voluer vers une atteinte plus profonde des tissus.<\/p>\n<h3>Parodontite<\/h3>\n<p>Stade avanc\u00e9 dans lequel l&rsquo;infection s&rsquo;\u00e9tend sous la gencive. Les bact\u00e9ries provoquent une destruction progressive de l&rsquo;os alv\u00e9olaire et du ligament parodontal. Des poches parodontales se forment entre la gencive et la racine.
